back from biel
yesterday i came back from switzerland, where i have been around for the last 10 days. costa rican choreographer and dancer sandra trejos from diquis tiquis had invited me to visit her in biel, to realize some audiovisual projects.
and so we did: pasaporte basel is the first finished proyect. it consists of various passport photos of sandra, taken 10 years ago in basel. if you move the mouse over the photo, it will morph through time and show a photo of her again, taken at the same place with the same machine.

global news, funky interface
a visually astonishing way of presenting news from all over the world has come up with mappedup. with the claim to be ‘an indispensable tool for the global newsjunkie’ the website aggregates global news-feeds and pops up the recent news geographically, just where they happen. additionally there is the possibility to personalize the map.

10 years of fancy animation!
everybody has suffered waiting, enjoyed watching, and found new inspirations using it – what would the web be without the animations and fancy application of flash?
to celebrate this event there is a community poll to find out which has been the most influential flash-site ever. you can vote for 10 different sites, and all are obviously highly innovative and worth exploring.
the competition is made in cooperation with adobe who bought macromedia about a year ago. the original technology was called futuresplash Animator and was developed by a company called futurewave software (read more about the history of flash).

die erfindung ist so simpel wie genial: der in italien lebende juan ospina hat per flash eine web-applikation entwickelt, die die erstellung kleiner (und auch längerer) animationen ermöglicht. flipbook umfasst auch eine galerie, in der sich die besten clips mit einem rating-system anschauen lassen.

zeig' mir die zukunft!
und es wird weiterhin frische dystopie produziert: als eine doku-fiction mit anleihen bei the second renaissance und big brother kommt der jetzt auf deutsch verfügbare flashfilm epic 2015 daher.
dabei wird das ganze szenario eines produktiven machtbegriffs à la Foucault auf ansprechende art herunterdekliniert – datenschützerzeigefinger inklusive, versteht sich. mein prädikat: unterhaltsam und intelligent, also unbedingt checken.
die originalversion kann man sich übrigends bei robin sloan anschauen. das ganze basiert auf überlegungen, was in der corporate-internet-welt demnächst möglicherweise anstehen könnte.
